retraction

The time has come for me to print a retraction.
Apparently my posting of the transformer song story caused some controversy in my family. Click here to read the posting. The big questions were; which of the grandsons was it with the underwear and was it really mom who sang the song?
The truth was I couldn't remember exactly who it was with the underwear but my brother Alan did, so I just want to say, I love you Paul and you're pretty darn cute. Also, Alan remembers it being JuLee who sang the song wrong first and then mom. Neither wants to own up to it and it comes down to this, I've been teasing mom all these years and really both JuLee and I do say things wrong all the time. So who ever said/sang it, it was funny, and I'm going to continue to tease both of you as well as myself. We're a funny family and I like it that way.

Maybe I shouldn't tease mom so much though, she almost didn't let me get married because of it. When I was engaged I thought she kept saying "Wilkinson" wrong so I kept correcting her. I think she had finally had enough (as well she should have) and she said, "Fine, I don't think you can get married then because I don't want to spend forever with you correcting me on how to say your last name." I saw the error of my ways and mom's pronunciation was perfect immediately.

Now I get corrected all the time by my daughter and I'm amazed at how patient mom was with me because I'm just not that patient. What goes around comes around. Right? Mom, did you tease your mom?

So now I have to tell one on myself. I have an extra house key that I decided to put someplace very safe and handy so if I ever did get locked out I would be able to get back in easily. This summer the kids and I got locked out. Did I remember where that very safe, handy place with the key was? Of course not! My wonderful husband came home from work and let us in. Our wonderful neighbor brought us drinks and snacks while we waited.
Five months later I was cleaning out my backpack. This thing went everywhere with us this summer, it was constantly stocked with sunscreen, water, snacks, diapers, etc. Guess what I found in one of the pockets? The house key, of course. Then I had a clear recollection of putting the key in the pocket, it sure was someplace safe and handy just not memorable.

I showed your aunt Fern your story and she really laughed and I did too.
She said you were a good writer. Looks like the whole family has their own stories.
