Trouble in the blink of an eye

Seriously, I was on the phone for less than 5 minutes.
I had left them at the table drawing on a giant piece of paper.

At one point while I was on the phone I heard Sweet Cheeks say, "Look I drew a moustache and a beard."
I assumed she meant on the paper.

Then I heard them discussing what colors they like most.

S.C. friend said she likes purple.
It would seem she really does.
I guess if you're going to have a little charlie-chaplinesque (yes I just made up that word) moustache, purple is the way to go.

Good thing the markers are non-toxic and (semi) "washable" because they colored their tongues and I was able to get most of it off of their faces.

It would seem S.C. was very proud of her black fingertip because she's showing it off in every picture.
and
As far as trouble goes this was pretty mild and I have to admit I got a good chuckle out of it....
...then we had a discussion about "the proper places to draw and color."
I made it very clear that your face is not a proper place.
Only time will tell if they even heard a word I said.

I can't wait to see what new fun they have next time!

Easter Egg Hunt X 3

A lady in our neighborhood organizes an Easter egg hunt every year the Saturday before Easter.
Every one donates the candy and eggs (the eggs are used again every year) and they work together to stuff and hide them.
When it's all said and done there are over 1500 eggs.
That's a lot of candy!
and
A lot of fun!
Everyone looks forward to it each year.

Sweet Cheeks and some of her fun neighborhood friends.

Not making this up, this is seriously a quote.
"It's the motherload of Easter eggs, alien Easter eggs."

Quite a group of 7-8 year olds.

The Easter egg hunt was divided up by age and then they were sent to the different areas of the neighbor hood to hunt.
Four and five year olds got to hunt around the church. Some of the eggs were hid pretty good for 4 year olds and the hiding techniques looked familiar and similar to those used by my family.
Duder had helped hide the eggs and so I was confident he had the eggs for this group.
Turned out I was right, my boy had indeed hid these eggs, I was pleased and surprised I actually could spot the egg hiding technique of my boy.
Weird?

My brother and his family were able to join us.

Saturday afternoon Grandma and Grandpa W- also hosted a Easter Egg Hunt, Pinata, Dinner.

This time Uncle Dave had hid the eggs so this guy got to help hunt.

I thought it was funny that even though she wasn't blind-folded she still thought she needed her eyes closed. Wanted it to be fair I guess...

It was fun having our recently-returned-from-a-mission-in-Africa-nephew with us.

Just a hit or two into the pinata fun the head fell off but the candy was still inside so the "headless bunny" was restrung and the fun continued.
It reminded me of
Little Bunny Fu-Fu, except that was the field mice who got bopped on the head but I think bunny fu-fu did in the end too.

Sunday Grandma and Grandpa S- Also hosted an Easter Egg Hunt and dinner.

We're so glad the weather held all weekend.

Searching low.

Searching high.

Grandpa found a good seat to enjoy the Easter Egg Hunt show.

Surveying the scene to make sure we did indeed find all of the eggs.
And we did....except for the one they found a couple of hours later kind of under a rock.....and except for the one they'll find next year when they're hiding the eggs....

So I think they Easter Egg Hunt x3 just may be enough hunting to tide them over until next year.....maybe....

Look Who Came To Dinner!!!!

My Soul SISTA' Nicole.
I love this gal.
We knew we were kindred spirits when we sat in a R.S.Enrichment committee meeting and tried not to get the church giggles (I didn't know that's what they're called then, but that's what we had, she explained the definition of church giggles to me later.) because we're both crafting snobs.
Oh this girl can cook!
She has surprised me many an evening with an impromptu, "What you got planned for dinner?" my usual answer, "I don't know." her usual answer, "Well, here you go!" Voila' gourmet meal on your doorstep!
If ever you need someone to listen to you and be on your side and tell you you're right and be just as ticked as you are because someone was rude or cut you off in the car or when one of the other parents at your kid's school made you feel small and insignificant...
She's got your back!
Oh man has she got your back!
I wanted to pack her in my bag and bring her with me when we moved but I don't think her family would have appreciated that!
She, and her lovely family, drove an hour out of their way to come spend an evening at our house.
It was as if we'd never been apart, laugh so hard my side hurt, good!
There's nothing better than good company
and if you get to hear awesome E.R./Operating room stories even better!!!;o)
