After consulting the Internet this is what we came up with for him to take to class for his treat.
Honestly, I was surprised they turned out so well. If the truth be known I have no skills in the cake decorating department or for flower arranging, for that matter (but we won't discuss flowers today). Give me a piece of fabric and I can come up with things that will amaze and delight. Hand me a cake and some frosting and you'll get a big ol' glob of cake crumbs and frosting. So you know if I can make these cupcakes turn-out half decent they can't be too hard.

My Question is;
How much does the treat you take to school for your birthday affect your social standing in fourth grade?
It's been a while since I've run in fourth grade social circles, but I did have my question in mind as my son and I were deciding what to make for his treat. I didn't want to do anything too girly and have the boys think it was stupid - we did want to do something fun and original - oh and TASTY too. The tasty part was important because -----I decided that 4th grade boys are really men in training and by this stage in the game they've learned that
Food = Tasty = MM-M-M = Cool Guy
Girls on the other hand
Food = Cute = tasty = Cool
I think we were able to fulfill both criteria - tasty & cute.
As we were deciding what to make I did council with my personal food guru - Nicole - I think I've mentioned before she is amazing. I want to say thanks for the advice and vote of confidence - I could hear the bit of a laugh and practically see the sparkle in your eye (through the phone) as we were discussing the possibility of me decorating a cake item, though. ;) I know the thought of me doing it is funny ---- but look I did it!
So, while researching cupcakes I was surprised to learn that there is quite a community of Cupcake enthusiasts out there.
I found these fun little cupcake pops on a blog and they were featured on Martha Stewart last week as well. I'm going to try these out next time I need to make a fancy little treat. Maybe I'll throw a baby shower for some random person just so I can have an excuse to make some.:)

Let me be the first to say, WOW! those are great! I looked at them and said "Is that pop-corn on top?" Let us know what the kids at school thought. What is most important is that smile J has in the picture. That tells it all. Thanks also for the other blog spots links.
Let that good looking guy know, all of us in Virginia, wish him a happy birthday! Thos cupcakes are amazing! You never cease to amaze me. Another idea I can steal from you!!! Love ya!

Wow! I want one! You are amazing :)
So Duder said, and I quote, "To say the class loved them would be a major understatement."
Also the kids thought it was real popcorn on top until they bit into them and then they started laughing when they realized it was marshmellows.
-Those kids are braver than me to eat cupcakes with what they thought was popcorn on top.:)
*Finally - Thank you everyone for your compliments!
Yea! The cup cakes were a success. That was fun to hear what J had to say. Thanks for the fun blog.
You are an amazing mother. And by the way, now I know who to call when the next baby shower is needed. I think I am officially off the hook now that your cupcake talents are out in the open.
