When I became a mother I knew there would be injuries. That's just life.
When I had boys I knew there would be broken bones, boys are just crazy that way.
It never occurred to me the first broken bone would be my baby girl.
But ---She's a climber, and so it goes, she is the first to find her way into a cast. Hopefully she's the last.

Friday while standing on a dinning room chair she slipped. (I was in the other room - Doodle saw her fall.) The hardwood floor won, (I guess they call it hardwood for a reason) and she broke her elbow. After a day full of doctors and x-rays she ended up with a beautiful pink cast.
She was such a trooper - she cried of course -but not nearly as much as one might think.

Really she's adjusted to her cast rather quickly. The first night was pretty rough, we spent many long hours together on the couch, but last night she slept all night and I really needed it.
She has been right handed for so long that she gets frustrated when she tries to draw and her hand doesn't cooperate. - Maybe she'll become ambidextrous!
Her brothers are super protective of her now (even more than usual). Even Mr.Man who is normally a ball of semi-controlled chaos (semi-controlled is being used very loosely here) has toned it down a lot and is so gentle and careful with her. I'm sure that will end though, as soon as she starts to use her cast as a weapon.

For the time being she finds the most comfort sitting on mom or dad's lap and we are happy to oblige.

She'll have the cast off in two weeks and have more x-rays, then we'll go from there. She may or may not have to have another one.
I'll keep you posted.

OOHHHHH! I am so sorry. It's so sad to see such a cute little thing with a cast. I laughed when you said it would end up being a weapon. A true little girl!
Hey Carol, Do you think you will be commin to Utah this summer? I would love to catch up with you for just a quick minute. Kathy PS my e-mail is AVOUtah@digis.net
I was so sad to hear about your first broken bone. We have been lucky with that one so far, but you never know. I'm glad she decided to sleep again, so you can too. Give her hugs and kisses from us.
We feel so-o-o sorry for our little s/Heart R. We were glad to hear the swelling in her hand had gone down. Hope it heals fast. The picture of the pink cast and the bright colored shirt she looks so determined. That was nice to hear how the kids are so protective of her. We love you all!
Hi Carol,
It is Kim Reich. That is so sad that R- broke her arm. She is as cute as ever. Thank you so much for inviting us to dinner. We had a great time!!! Your family is just precious. We have not been at church the past two weeks because Dave's sister's husband passed away suddenly and we have been with her non stop since this happened. Yesterday we went to my parents ward as my Dad spoke and it was fathers day.
Hope all is well with you all. We will see you sunday!
Kim
That it sooo sad. I can't imagine Allie breaking something. I love that her cast is pink though!
