The more I think about it maybe they were a little excited and ready and a little sad.
Back to school likes to jump out of the bushes at us and then slam us back into schedules and homework with a grin.
And so here we are again, a little shell shocked but happy.
It's been a long/short summer that has skipped right past us full to the brim with family trips, swimming lessons, music camp, scout camp, robotics camp, girls' camp, cook-outs, family, music lessons, friends, laughter, gardening, walking the dog, bike riding, movies, mowing the lawn, birthdays, mini-golf, pictures, drama, building forts, more laughing until our sides and faces hurt, pretend trips to the moon, camp-out with cousins, the lake, tea parties with grandma and so much more.
Doodle asked if we could just take it easy next summer.
We of course said, "Sure!"
But I'm not going to count on it.
I'm starting the new school year with a prayer for fantastic teachers who love my children and for good friends who want to do what's right.
Happy Back To School to all of you! Good luck with the new year.
