A Conversation Overheard




The Setting: 2 second grade boys talking about a third boy (their friend) and another second grade girl (a neighbor).
The Mom asks the boys a question and then leaves the scene but keeps listening to the conversation.
*All names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Mom: I thought you boys were going to go get Brandon* to play too?
Boy #1: Yeah we were but he was already playing with Sally*.
Mom leaves
Boy #2 to boy #1: I'm not sure he's happy to be playing with Sally.
Boy #1: He used to not like to play with her because she thought they were fiance'd.
Boy #2: What?
Boy #1: She thought he was her fiance'.
Boy #2: What does that mean?
Boy #1: Oh it's French....it means they are intended to be married....You haven't heard that before?
Boy #2: No.....remind me to never get fiance'd.
