The tradition started years ago, in Oregon I think.
The kids were little, it was a day off work, we didn't want to spend a lot of money on an activity, we lived close to so many beautiful places to explore.
So, explore we did.......we hiked and we saw salmon leaping up a waterfall, it was glorious.
Time marched forward.
The kids are older, but our youngest is the age our oldest was when we started, that's just so strange.
Our Labor Day Hike tradition continues.
Today's hike needed to be shorter and less strenuous than in years past, we had a broken toe and lungs recovering from pneumonia among us but we still hiked.
We talked and laughed, discovered creatures and reveled in the perfectly perfect fallish air.
The landscape and our location has changed, our bodies have aged, we've added to our crew
but still it was glorious.
We hiked "Bird Song Trail" at the mouth of Ogden Canyon.
We found a beautiful spring.
He looked at the camera! Because I made him. :P
The next two pictures go together.
First this is where I usually am, bringing up the rear, and this is where I was at the beginning of the hike.
You see for years I've either been sick or recuperating when we've gone on our Labor Day hike.
However, I was healthy this year!!! Yipee.
So look where I ended the hike!
Yep, that's right I was leading the pack!
Can I get a "You go girl!"?
Yes my son does look angry and like he's going to punch someone (me) but I promise he's not. He was walking right behind me and I turned around quickly and said, "I need photographic evidence I was in the lead. Lean over a little so I can get more people in the picture." Click
He was trying to move over a little when I took the picture.
Just so you know.
Here we are at the top.
That's Ben Lomond Peak in the background (the blueish mountain on the left).
Did you notice Sweet Cheeks pose?
She's been doing it since June, it was her final pose for her dance recital.
She's taught us all to do it!
Happy Hiking!
