She's been ready to go to school for years now.
She's waited, sometimes patiently, sometimes not, but she's waited and now it's her turn.
I wondered what I'd feel; sad, sentimental, excited, lonely?
She was just so excited I couldn't help but be excited with her.
I'm not sad to see her grow up, mostly because she acts so much older (somewhat like a teenager and I blame it on the fact we have teenagers in the house) and I think I came to grips with that a long time ago. Plus it helped a lot that she wanted to cuddle with me when she got home and tell me all about her day.
Yes, I'd say that helped a lot.
She has the same Kindergarten teacher her brother had a few years ago which is nice because the teacher and I already know what to expect from each other. And believe it or not I think she likes me and my, at times, blunt honesty. Plus she knows my girl from the hours we spent volunteering in brother's class. So everyone is happy.
Tuesday there was a back to school meeting for all of the new Kindergartners and their parents. At the meeting the teacher handed out homework books and told the students it would be her Christmas present if they could finish the book before Christmas. The book is 50 pages long. As of this morning my girl is on page 25. Yep, she's ready and motivated so bring on the EDUCATION!
