Old Photos!

I had a friend scan these for me. Thanks Nicole!

Below we have me and my mom.
Isn't she beautiful! - She's even more beautiful today!I've always loved both of these pictures.
This is me and my grandma. I love this picture for so many reasons;
1)Because this is how I remember my grandma. When I look at this photo I can hear her laugh and remember so many things about her, the indent her watch always left on her arm, how long her hair was and how she combed it every night, I remember the stories she liked to tell about my dad when he was a little boy and the funny things he and his brothers did...so many other things too.
2)The couch we are setting on was a great green velvety thing - it was fun for turning into a fort or a boat. I loved dancing around it to Swan Lake and then falling on it when I would die at the end of the ballet.
3) In the dark part of the photo you can see a lamp....they are the coolest lamps ever! Black metal with kind-of Chinese mountain pictures etched into them. I have spent many hours studying those lamps....running my fingers along the etchings.
4) In the upper left hand corner is a painting. It's still there in my parents living room and it's a winter scene, there's another one that's more of a fall forest scene. I love both of them. I've also spent many, many hours studying them and imagining myself inside the painting. Lots and lots of stories have been inspired by those paintings.

Isn't it funny that such a simple old photograph can inspire so many good memories.
I guess that's why I admire and appreciate people who are able to capture moments so beautifully with their cameras.
And why I think my kids are sick of me sticking the camera in their faces. Maybe someday they'll find an old photo that brings back lots of good memories for them like these do for me and they'll smile - I'll smile too.

Your pictures surprised me today. Thank you so much for the nice compliment. Isn't that a cute little girl in the picture? Your comments about the picture of you and Grandma brought tears to my eyes. That has always been one of my favorite pictures too. It has two people in it that I love very much. The vest you are wearing was made by Grandma too.

Thanks for those memories. Your memories brought back a few of my own especially of Grandma Stockett. Now I will have to go redo my eye makeup.
