We took a road trip to explore an old gold/silver boom town.
We happened to pick the same weekend as a motorcycle rally there. All kinds of interesting, tattoo & leather clad characters were exploring the town with us.
We had fun and although it was warm it wasn't too hot. We kept everyone smeared with sunscreen so no sunburns except for me. Somehow I missed my right ear, I got distracted I guess, it's a deep lobster red.
The kids enjoyed riding the steam engine train, I think that was my favorite part too.
We enjoyed getting ice cream to cool off.
Mr. Man found a cowboy hat he had to have so his dad (who happens to be a cowboy at heart) couldn't resist either. Sweet Cheeks tried on a pink hat but we didn't buy it.
We had fun walking down the old wooden lined street and window shopping the tourist-trap shops.
We decided a Mexican restaurant smelled really good there and we wanted Mexican food for dinner but that particular restaurant seemed too expensive. We thought it would work out better to drive to our hometown and try out a restaurant closer to home and we figured it would cost less too. It turned out the restaurant we chose was MORE expensive than the one in the tourist town. GO FIGURE! It was tasty though and we had fun laughing at Sweet Cheeks going to town on the salsa and chips. She pulled a bowl of salsa over to herself and wouldn't share with anyone. She kept dipping a chip in it, then sucking the salsa off and dipping again. After that no one really wanted to share her salsa anyway.
We came home very tired and very dusty and very happy.
We took a lot of pictures so here's a sampling.
Rough - tough - cowboy in pink!
Headed to the train.
Check out that rugged cowboy and his hat!
Couldn't wait to take a train ride.
Waiting for dad to buy the tickets.
So, I thought Zachary might enjoy these train pictures and I had fun playing with the color.
We went through a tunnel. Fun the first time, very smoky the second.
The crew.
The view.
Salsa on her face and down her shirt!

I love Virginia City! Great pictures!
Wow, those trains are awesome. You were right, Zach LOVED the pictures. He of course would like to go on one. We will have to find him something like that. How fun!!
I too love it there. Except the windy road to get there! Love all the pictures!
Looks like so much fun! The bikers with the tatoos are always there! I was up there 2 years ago for a wedding, and you could hardly hear the ceremony over the loud mufflers on the bikes. I love the cowboy hat!
Love the pictures. S/C looks so cute in that pink hat. S looks great in his hat, too! Once when we were in Texas, there was a guy with all the cowboy gear on and one of the kids asked him if he was a cowboy, and he said, yes. Then they wanted to know where his cow was. (We all laughed) Looks like you all were having fun. You even had a pic with every one in it. Went to K summer music program last night. It was really cute.
