Please forgive me. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today.
But I can't help thinking to myself, "when and how did this happen?"
Do you remember when this sweet girl looked like this?
And when I wrote THIS post about her puddle jumping?
And then, suddenly, she's riding her bike like a pro all over the neighborhood.
(Sticking strictly to the sidewalks and drive-ways, of course.)
A couple of things haven't changed.....
She still likes to have her picture taken and she can pose like no one's business!
We've lived in this house longer than any other home since we've been married.
Maybe that's why I'm feeling nostalgic. For the first time I can look at a place and say, "Oh, that's where she used to like to jump in puddles." Or "That's where she .......whatever....when she was little."
I don't have memory lane right at fingertips with the other kids like I do with her.
Not that she's all grown up now.
It's just she's older.
She needs me a little less.
She prefers her friends a little more.
And she really, really loves to feel like she's flying!
From what I hear it all came down while I was at the store Saturday morning.
Due to the beautiful spring weather MDH pulled the bikes out and got them all ready for riding.
She rode around a bit with her training wheels on and then came back to tell her dad they were loose.
He suggested that he just take them off completely.
He told her that once they were off, when she rode her bike, she'd feel like she was flying.
So she agreed.
The training wheels came off and her dad's strong hand steadied her from behind.
In two quick turns she told her dad to let go and she was off!
And she hasn't looked back!
When I got home she was cruising like she'd been doing it her whole life.
She loves her new found freedom and wings.
And so do I.
She asked me to record her.
Listen for her "Wahoo!" of delight while she rides. It's adorable!
