Remember how back in February I posted about our Laundry plumbing problems?
Well, way back then we thought it was going to be a simple fix once we got a clean-out put in. But, no such luck.
The all powerful tool the plumber used didn't change a thing, he thought maybe we needed to clean out the vent for the drain so MDH climbed on the roof and cleaned out the vent ---
still the drain backed up.
We brought in three new plumbers to take a look at it and give us an estimate on what we would need to do to fix the problem.
All three said we needed to re-plumb the laundry and add a valve to the floor drain that would allow water down but not back up.
So we had the laundry re-plumbed and the valve put in.
Still ---
the water backed up and the valve only worked part of the time.
But at least I could do laundry at our house. I just needed to stay close and keep an ear out for when the washer drained so I could turn it off when it started to back up.
Finally, we decided to cut into the pipes and send a camera down and find out what the problem was.
This plumber found something stuck in the pipe - it looked like some sort of fitting or something that acted as a restrictor.
It would still allow water through but not the whole flow.
He was able to knock it loose and then push it through the pipes all the way out to the street and into the sewer main. I watched it float away to stinky la-la-land!
And then I cried.
Tears of joy.
It's finally over.
Oh Happy Day!
We still have to fix the floor. (we found mold in the floor in the laundry room so we had to cut it all out and replace the sub floor) We still have to fix the wall and paint. But that's fun stuff.
I can do laundry at my house and the water doesn't back up!!!!
WooHoo!
You probably can't tell but I'm doing a happy dance right now. Would you like to join me?

Yipee!!! I am also do a happy dance in your honor! I am so glad that this headache finally has some medicine!!
I just can't dance for joy if it involves laundry (my nemisis) but I can see just how thankful I should be that we have working pipes and no need to travel anywhere to clean our clothes. So thanks to your blog entry, just for this week, my laundry pile and I will shake hands and I won't mudder obscenities as I walk over the pile in my room. Congrats on the victory. Miss you all.
Oh thank goodness... I know how hard it is to have laundry backing up when you have lots of it to do, everyday, lots of laundry!! You can't have problems, it is just not ok! Crazy thing to get so excited about, but I know just how you feel!
